January 31 – Isaiah 40:28-31
Jan 31st, 2012 by Sherri

God always knows what is best for each of us, but we sometime don’t realize the plans for our life.  We do everything we can to ruin it by trying to give our thoughts and vision for how we see our life at home, work or play.  Be assured that God’s direction for you will be plain to see. The song “Order my Steps” says it perfectly in regards to how we should follow God on this journey called life.  God will never lead you down the wrong pathway, but will provide the encouragement, confidence and support needed to achieve all that God has to offer.

In today’s scripture we are assured that we serve a God that faintest not, doesn’t grow weary and has no limit to His understanding or power. God restores strength to the weak, give us wings like eagles and make it possible for us to face trials without growing weary. All we have to do is wait on the Lord. Are you willing to wait on the Lord or do you get impatient and proceed on your own? God made time, but God does not live in it. God may not come when you want Him, but God is always on time.

Do you allow God to have authority in your life?  Does your spirit recognize Jesus as the Holy One of God requiring a change in your behavior?  Does the positive change in your behavior lead others to spread the good news of Jesus the Christ?  If you can not answer yes to all of these questions, today is your day to accept God’s authority over your life and watch God make a difference in your life.

On Sunday, January 29th at 9:45am I will be giving the State of the Church Address. I believe this is important because it lets the people of St. James know where we are as it relates to finances, facilities, and ministry. This is also an opportunity to learn about where we are going as a community called St. James. I hope to see and we move together in our goal of connecting people with God in practical ways.

Lord, I thank you for Jesus-the Living Word. Thank you we are able to learn of his teachings in the gospels and to know his authority has not diminished in this 21st Century. Help us, O God, to boldly speak your word, to proclaim to others that Jesus saves, and to let Jesus reign in and over our lives. Amen
