I’m very excited about the possibilities of 2011. I am expecting a spiritual revival to take place here at St. James. In the 18th Century America experienced what would become known as the “Great Awakening.” This was a period in our nation’s history when new Christian movements began to take hold of the American landscape. Thousands of people were accepting Jesus daily, new churches were started, and there were reports of miracles and healings. This movement was so powerful that it influenced just about every aspect of American life-from politics, novels, to popular music.
I believe the United States is ready for another awakening and St. James will be one of the instruments used to lead the way. The breakthrough that will occur here at St. James in 2011 will look like this: 1. People will understand their spiritual gifts and operate in their gifts. 2. Our worship attendance will increase not because people LIKE church but because they will experience God’s power and presence in worship. 3.Our ministries will truly transform lives and restore broken communities. 4. We will have the financial resources to do cutting-edge ministry. 5. And the lost will connect with God on a practical level through Jesus.
This is the breakthrough I’m praying for. This is what I anticipate God doing here at the faith community called St. James United Methodist Church.

St. James Podcast for Sunday, December 5, 2010 Speaker: Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III Title: Zechariah’s Song (Finding our way) Scripture: Luke 1:67-79
December is the month of prayer for the people of St. James. We are asking believers to pray everyday at noon for a personal breakthrough and a breakthrough for St. James.
St. James is dealing with a lack of resources, facilities needs, and a plateau in worship attendance. That’s why we will use December as the month to ask God the break us through those strongholds in 2011.
The first Sunday of 2011 we will celebrate what God is about to do in the ministry of St. James.
