This week I spent a few days in New Orleans for the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship Conference. The Full Gospel Fellowship, led by Bishop Paul Morton, is a thriving movement with several mega church congregations and internationally known pastors.I truly enjoyed my time in The Big Easy.
I knew the worship experiences would be off the chain. However, I didn’t know what to expect with the workshops. One reason a lot of these congregations are growing is that they are Biblically centered. Not that other Christian traditions don’t teach the Bible but it’s often a mixture of corporate America and Biblical principles. For example, Bishop Joseph Walker stated, “congregations have too much bureaucratic hierarchy and not enough apostolic order.”. In other words, our systems and structures are based more on the business world than the structure the apostles established in the New Testament.
What a unique concept.(Sarcasm) Structuring a congregation on the principles of the Church Fathers. It makes sense to me.
